We didn't buy our way into farming. We farmed our way into distribution.

From a family farm in the Cundinamarca highlands to one of the top 10 importers of Colombian fresh herbs in the United States — twenty-seven years, same farms, same family.

Where it started

In 1998, our family founded Plantar de Colombia SAS in Colombia. We were potato and vegetable farmers — small, hands-on, working the same soil our family had worked for generations.

Where it grew

2017 — We added fresh herbs to the rotation. Same hands, same standards, same soil discipline — applied to a crop the world was suddenly asking for.

2019 — We cut out the middlemen and started exporting directly to wholesalers in the United States. The product got fresher. The relationships got closer.

2022 — We opened From The South Investments LLC in Doral, FL— not as a separate company, but as the family's American address. Same standards, same protocols, same promise.

Where we are now

Plantar de Colombia is one of the top exporters of fresh herbs from Colombia to the United States.

  • Top 10 — From The South is among the ten largest importers of Colombian fresh herbs in the U.S.
  • 5+ countries — We now ship herbs, produce and specialties from Colombia, Mexico, Hawaii, Thailand and beyond — all under one family standard.
  • 80–90% — Of every herb we ship is grown on our own farms.

What we choose to be

A lot has grown in twenty-seven years. The acreage. The catalog. The map. The trucks. The market share.

What hasn't grown — what we don't let grow — is the distance between us and what we sell. We still walk the rows. We still know our growers by name. We still sign off on what leaves the warehouse.

One family owns both companies. The herbs travel from our highlands to our warehouse to your shelves without changing hands — and that's the whole point.
